Checking in the disc when someone's not ready

The official rules people have been ignoring this forum, but I guess I'll give posting here one more shot before declaring it dead.

Play stops due to a call downfield. A defensive and offensive player are still discussing something (the call, positioning, etc), but the thrower and/or marker don't realize this and check the disc in. One of the players involved in the discussion immediately calls a violation. Is that a legitimate call, or by checking in the disc do you implicitly acknowledge that everyone on your team is ready to play?

    Thanks,
    - Nate

It is a legitimate call. Even if 6 people on the team, including the thrower or marker say they are ready and the check happens, the player(s) not ready may call violation and play is considered to have never started (any completion or turn would not count, regardless of who called the violation). If a player says s/he's ready, and play is restarted, then they decide they weren't ready, they cannot call violation.

The violation call (VIII.D) is legitimate if there's discussion or improper positioning (or movement). If you're in position and simply not aware, then you cannot call violation.

But these problems will go away forever if/when the thrower or the marker follows the proper procedure for performing the check? http://skydmagazine.com/2011/01/rule...y-1-the-check/

That makes all the problems go away. And it's really easy. Check downfield. Make sure O is ready. Make sure D is ready. Announce the stall count. Count down 3-2-1 and check it in.
