Private Messages

If I receive a private message on the forum, does it send any alerts or have a way to display any unread private messages? I think the easiest idea would be to have the Private Messages link show up as Private Messages (x) If you have x unread private messages. Something like this may be the case already but I haven't been able to really test it with only one account. Sending a private message to myself didn't really show any indication that I had received one, but maybe that is because I sent it to myself...

A couple people sent me some private messages to test if there was any notification system, and it appears that there is none. If you are going to allow private messages, this is something I would add or I bet most messages will go unnoticed.

You can go to Private Messages, then scroll down to "My Settings" on the left and click "general settings", then scroll down to "private messaging" and you can select a notification method (email, popup, etc).

But if you send yourself a PM, then look up at the very top at "notifications", you'll see a "1" by it. Click on notifications and it will drop down and say "1 Unread Private Messages"

It's a little different than most message boards where a (1) or (1 New) appears by "Private Messages."

My "Show New Private Message Notification Pop-up" was off. If this is the default setting for new accounts I'd suggest changing that.

mine is off, but i still get the "1" next to notifications at the top when i get a PM. I PMed myself. I feel dirty.
