Does USA Ultimate still do annual registration by calendar year or based on when the person signs up? Because if it's by calendar year and college teams want to go to sanctioned fall events, it kind of sucks for new comers to pay for membership, then have it expire December 30 and have to pay for a new membership.

Is that still the deal?

Membership is required for series events, but not for sanctioned events. Non-members have the option to pay a $10 one-time event fee for each sanctioned event they participate in. Additionally, brand new college members can pay the discounted introductory membership rate of $17 (a better deal if they are attending more than one sanctioned tournament this fall). USA Ultimate will start accepting 2011 memberships on December 1st.

Specific questions about sanctioned event registration can be directed to sanctioning@usaultimate.org.

just have them buy a lifetime membership, it'll pay off by the time they are 30 something.

I can't find this anywhere on the membership page now that it's actually time -- any update on this discount rate?

The introductory rates are available Aug-Nov. each year. As indicated by its name, the Introductory Memberships are designed to give brand new members a break on the price of a full membership because:

- if they are paying during this time frame, they will not receive a full year's worth of benefits, and
- it's assumed that as a brand-new member, they were not aware of our calendar membership cycle in which memberships always expire on 12/31.

Introductory rates are not offered during other times of the year because, even though a member may be new, they still receive a majority of the benefits when they pay in the first half of the year.
