To the Mixed teams of the Southwest Region

I hope your season is going well and that you are all excited for Regionals which will take place in a little over 3 weeks in Sunny Southern California. That said, I would like to announce that there has been a location change for the Mixed and Masters Southwest Regionals.

Apparently there was a big miscommunication between the Open RC and the directors at the Oxnard Sea Air Park (where Regionals is supposed to be held). This resulted in the simple truth that we had fields for ONLY Saturday the 9th, and not Sunday the 10th. I was actually the one who found out about this miscommunication on September 8th (last Thursday) as I was beginning talks with the sports complex in preliminary preparations for Regionals. This resulted in a call from the National Directors that (simply put), told us to "get our sh*t together" and find fields for that weekend.

By now many of you are probably fuming at us for screwing this up again, but please be advised that I have resolved this problem as of today. I have located and secured fields for the Mixed and Masters divisions for Regionals at Freedom Park in Camarillo, CA. I'm sure many of you guys are ready to pull up your google maps and/or cancel travel plans, but don't worry. Camarillo borders the city of Oxnard and is in fact closer to LAX than Oxnard. This means that any travel/hotel accommodations you have already made should not have to be canceled or changed.

Mixed and Masters divisions will be at Freedom Park in Camarillo, CA on the weekend of October 9th-10th, 2010. We are still looking for fields for the Open and Womens divisions, efforts that are being headed up by the Open and Womens RC's respectively. I apologize for any travel changes this announcement may cause, but my search criteria was simply to find new fields within 10 miles of the old site so that no one's travel accommodations would be significantly altered. Congratulations to all those teams who have already qualified for Regionals. Details regarding Regionals/bids/etc. will be posted after the conclusion of this weekend's sectionals for the SoCal and Desert Sections.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions/concerns/rants/ etc. I will be more than happy to address your questions and or help your team w/ travel logistics.
